The Hamotzi Blessing

This challah board features the Hebrew blessing for bread, traditionally recited before eating challah or bread:

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, הַמּוֹצִיא לֶחֶם מִן הָאָרֶץ

Baruch atah, Adonai Eloheinu melech ha-olam, hamotzi lechem min haaretz.

Translation:

“Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Sovereign of all, who brings forth bread from the earth.”

The blessing is traditionally recited after ritual hand washing and immediately before eating bread made from wheat, barley, rye, spelt, or oats.
